All classes are multi-day in length and geared for quilt shops looking to bring in customers on a recurrent basis or quilt guilds wanting to hold a long weekend retreat.
Teaching fee is $30 per hour plus mileage.  Class size is limited to 15..

I Can’t Believe I’m Quilting! Beginning Machine Piecing

Piece Quiliting

 

This class takes the newbie quilter from step one to completed quilt project. 

 

Students learn the essential tools for piecing; how to achieve an accurate ¼” seam allowance; rotary cutting; strip-piecing; matching intersections; attaching borders; marking a quilt top; making a quilt sandwich; straight line machine quilting with a walking foot; and making  and attaching double-fold binding.


Recommended class length – six to eight class sessions – 3 hours per class.

Fusing Fundamentals – Beginning Machine Appliqué

Piece Quiliting
In this class the student will learn about different types of fusible webs and how to use them to make fusible appliqué 

 

Techniques for easy pattern transfer will be taught. Students will learn how to set up their sewing machines for blanket stitching around the appliqué pieces. Tips and tricks to achieve smooth and consistent blanket stitching around points and curves will be demonstrated and practiced. Students will complete a small wall hanging.


Recommended class length – three to four class sessions – 3 hours per class.

Cracked Pots – Intermediate Machine Piecing

This class is for the student looking to increase his/her machine piecing skills. Using the pattern Cracked Pots by Miss Rosie’s Quilt Company, we will make courthouse step blocks; house blocks; and multiple  pieced inner and outer borders. And along the way we will learn the lesson of the cracked pot.


Recommended class length – four to six class sessions – 3 hours per class OR a long weekend retreat (Friday – Sunday – 12 hours of class time)

Monterrey Medallion – Intermediate Machine Piecing

Advanced



This is another class for those with advanced beginner piecing skills looking to become more proficient with their machine piecing techniques. Using the Terry Atkinson pattern booklet, Monterrey Medallion students will learn to make star blocks, log pile blocks, a center medallion star, and Jacob’s Ladder blocks. Students may also choose the level of difficulty or complexity within each of these blocks to further enhance their skills or to challenge themselves.


Recommended class length – four to six class sessions – 3 hours per class OR a long weekend retreat (Friday – Sunday – 12 hours of class time)
